Be Kind

Life is hard. You never know when someone is having a bad day. Being kind is so so important.

As a little kid, my mom pounded being kind to others into my head, every single day. Which I’m extremely thankful for. I was raised on the golden rule, “treat others, the way you want to be treated.” I was always taught, even if you were having a bad day, you always be kind.

The thing that my mom didn’t teach me, was that you could be kind to every single person you interact with on a daily basis, but that doesn’t mean that people are going to be kind back. As a young child, this was hard for me to understand. Why are people hurtful? Why do people say such mean things? Why do people talk behind my back? The list of questions go on and on.

As I grew up, I realized that not all people are raised the same way I was. I strongly believe I was taught this because my mom had God in her heart. She knew God loved kindness, He loved when we treated others with kindness, love, and support.

I had made a promise to myself, that each day I would spread kindness and love to others. “Do not let kindness & truth leave you” -Proverbs 3:3

Jesus wants you to be kind. “Do good, lend, and expect nothing in return and your reward will be great” -Luke 6:35

Jesus is in my heart, and I know now that not everyone will be the same level of kind as I am. But I continuously try my very best to be as kind as I can be. That’s what Jesus loving people do. ❤️

A simple smile can completely change someone’s day. A simple good morning can make a happy heart. A simple “have a nice day”, can turn someone’s who mood around. In such a hateful world, why not be kind ☺️

Much Love, Amanda Hodge
